Do you or someone you know have specific needs that require help during an emergency or evacuation?
Start planning now!
- Notify a friend or relative of your future need for help in a disaster
- Set up a "Go-Kit" containing the following information: Recent medical history, name of physician, list of medications, allergies, list of equipment needed to bring with you, next of kin contact information, durable power of attorney for health care directive, plans for where your household pets will go, number for landlord, insurance company, bank account and a phone number for a trustedneighbor or friend.
- Set aside an extra supply of medications that you take regularly.
- Make sure you have extra items essential to your comfort and hygiene such as oxygen, incontinence supplies, health monitors, etc.
- If you are sheltering-inplace during a disaster, notify your emergency contact and have that person check with you daily.
- Be sure to select a safe place outside of your dwelling where you may wait comfortably for your help to arrive during an emergency.
- Always have at least one week's supply of food and water available for your needs and those of your pets or service animals.
- Practice your emergency evacuation plans and procedures.
